PeRiGuEuX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11!!!!!!

bonjour from france!! it was a long travel day and i am completely exhausted. and loopy because of jet lag. i'm not sure if i should be tired or hungry or cranky or what, but i am just sittin here in this lovely little room provided by me from FAVA!

(i haven't unpacked yet... surprise)

i can't focus enough to do too much blogging tonight, but i can say that traveling today was very interesting:

• the french people were very friendly, except when i ran over one of them with my luggage while hastily trying to get to my train (desoleé!!) 
• trains were very comfy and nice! i almost missed both of them, but i will talk more about that tomorrow. . . 
• my french is OK! i had a lovely conversation with an older french woman about what i was doing in france, where i was going, my life, etc... the conversation started out rocky, but then i got into the swing of things. 
• i'm never going on another 7 hour plane ride again ( that's a lie, but it was just so uncomfortable ).
• perigueux is absolutely LOVELY. it is a very old city with parks and monuments and old architecture. i'll have more time to walk around and enjoy it tomorrow, i think. 
• i have to practice! going to spend tonight studying the offenbach opera and putting in light translations. tomorrow is "audition day" for the singers, even though they have been pre-cast (i'm not sure why they are doing this, then...)

i feel like one of those monsters from the descent (remember that movie?? still have nightmares). greasy and gross, dirty and DEFINITELY smelly. time to shower, unpack, and stay up just long enough to get in the groove of things.
